Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials

The Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials (SCSAM) is a premier Case Western Reserve core facility providing a variety of instrumentation for advanced materials characterization and research.  High performance optical and electron microscopes allow for the examination of a wide range of materials. Providing high resolution imaging, microstructural, and chemical composition are but only a few of SCSAM's capabilities.  The facility also incorporates surface analysis instrumentation effective in analyzing and characterizing the chemical state and composition at a nanometer scale.  The facility is operated by a proficient staff of Ph. D professionals who support academic, research, and industry customers. Each year more than 250 individual researchers from the academic, non-profit, and commercial sectors recognize the advantages and benefits SCSAM delivers. From students, to startup enterprises, to prominent industrial businesses, SCSAM is mindful of our clients requirements and partners with them to efficiently extract valuable and informative data.

                                        

SCSAM engineers are currently training users on the Helios, Apreo, TOF-SIMS, XPS, Auger, Keyence Optical Microscope, Keyence 3D Profilometer, AFM, Nanoindenter, and Ion Polisher.
