ALERT

In Observance of U.S. holiday, Thanksgiving, Agilent Cross Lab/ iLab Operations Software will be closed during U.S. hours on Thursday November 22nd and Friday November 23rd, 2018. EU and APAC support coverage will remain open during this time. We will resume U.S. support hours on Monday November 26th, 2018. For urgent matters, please add "Urgent" to the ticket/ email subject or press "1", when prompted, to escalate a call on the iLab Support phone and we will prioritize those requests first.

Soft Matter Characterization Laboratory

Overview of Services

Supported by National Science Foundation (NSF) Science and Technology Center (STC) - Center for Layered Polymeric Systems (CLiPS), the Center for Dielectric & Energy Storage (CDES) was established in 2012 at Case Western Reserve University. CDEC aims at next-generation dielectric materials and technologies for practical applications, such as capacitors for hybrid electric vehicles/power electronics and dielectric elastomers for artificial muscles.

Mission

Our mission is to discover, develop, and translate novel dielectric technologies for energy storage and capacitor applications. Researching high energy density, high temperature, and low loss delectric film capacitors, we plan to integrate these innovations with storage devices, hybrid electric vehicles, multi-megawatt power conditioning, pulsed power, and high energy physics applications.
