ALERT Microcharacterization techniques of materials science and engineering: SPM (scanning probe microscopy), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), FIB (focused ion beam) techniques, SIMS (secondary ion mass spectrometry), EPMA (electron probe microanalysis), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectrometry), and AES (Auger electron spectrometry), ESCA (electron spectrometry for chemical analysis). Funded by a National Eye Institute P30 Grant, there currently are three core modules in the Visual Sciences Research Center: 1) Analytical Services which includes Microscopy, and Histology slides and sample embeds 2) Molecular Biology and Genotyping and 3) Specialized Animal Resources.
